The slashing of maize in Harare and Bulawayo by the MDC-T led councils has been condemned by urban farmers, politicians and cabinet ministers who described it as brutal and inhumane as the crop that was destroyed was close to the maturity stage.

In an interview, Harare Province Police Spokesperson, Inspector James Sabau, said the police does not give instructions to council and never meddle in its affairs unless if they are of a criminal nature.

He blasted the councilors for playing political games and blaming the police for the activities that have been condemned by the public in Harare.
