The Zimbabwe Open University (ZOU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce, an initiative which will benefit students as well as workers in industry and commerce.

Workers in the industry and commerce sector who might not have required qualifications will be able to pursue ZOU degrees after undergoing short courses, while students undergoing business studies with ZOU will have their industrial attachment within industry and commerce facilitated by ZNCC.

ZNCC president, Mr Trust Chikohora expressed confidence that the arrangement will yield positive results.

“It will help enhance training and allow the members to tap into the huge international market,” said Mr  Chikohora.

ZOU’s Vice Chancellor, Dr Primrose Kurasha hailed the initiative and said human capital is the back bone of a nation’s development.

“The partnership will immensely benefit the nation…skilled workers are vital to any economy and a highly informed  and innovative industry ensures growth,” Dr  Kurasha said.

The two parties will work together through close consultation to come up with degrees tailor made for industry in such areas as finance, human resources management, research among others.
