The Zimbabwe Olympic Committee has received due recognition for its efforts in effectively administering the Advanced Sport Management Course in African, by being awarded two intakes of the course this year.
In appreciation of the hard work by the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee, the Olympic solidarity saw it fit to award Zimbabwe an additional intake.
This development means Zimbabwe will this year run two intakes of the Advanced Sport Management Course, which is aimed at churning out efficient and effective sports administrators.
20 participants enrolled for the fourth intake, which commenced with the first module covering key areas such as putting together an effective organisation and the fundamental aspect of good corporate governance.
One of the course directors, Edward Siwela said the course is important as it plays a significant role in capacitating sports administrators in the country.
“The course entails a whole range of courses that seek to strengthen administrators’ skills in areas such as organising a major event, marketing management, financial as well as human resource management. This is important in setting up vibrant and efficient sports associations.
“Gone are the days when administrators should move around with begging bowls. It’s important to make their organisations attractive brands and this course also helps in that area,†said Siwela.
The Advanced Sport Management Course involves seven modules spread throughout the year and is aimed at equipping sports administrators with the fundamental tools to efficiently run their organisations.
With the fourth intake of the course having started at the weekend, the fifth intake is expected to commence the course at the end of this month.
