The Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce (ZNCC) has opened a branch in Masvingo province, a move that is expected to improve the operations of business for companies in the southern part of the country.

Business people from across the country were in Masvingo this Friday to witness the launch of the branch in the province.

Addressing the business community, Masvingo Minister of State, Cde Shuvai Mahofa urged companies in the province to become affiliates of the business chamber.

“Having the ZNCC here will have a positive impact on business. It’s important for you the local business people to become a part of it,” said Cde Mahofa.

ZNCC president Mr Davison Norupiri said his organisation aims to equip entrepreneurs with relevant information and ideas to enable them to thrive.

“Operating a business without information is like buying a brand new ship and putting it in a desert,” Mr Norupiri said.

The Minister of Industry and Commerce Dr Mike Bimha, who officially launched the Masvingo branch, said having the ZNCC in the province will enable government to take stock of the performance of companies.

Dr Bimha also urged business people to find ways of cutting costs of production to ensure their products remain competitive in terms of pricing.

“The people of Masvingo must embrace the coming of the branch as this will allow their concerns to be heard,” he said.

The government is continually working on ways to ensure businesses in the country thrive.
