valeriosibanda.jpgThe Commander of the Zimbabwe National Army, ZNA, Lieutenant General Philip Valerio Sibanda has expressed shock and sorrow at the death of eight members of the ZNA, and a 3-year old girl belonging to one of the soldiers in an accident.

The accident occurred at the 28-kilometre peg near Nyabira Shopping Centre, along the Harare-Chirundu highway on Monday.

The vehicle in which the ZNA members and the young girl were travelling collided head-on with a Toyota Land Cruiser.

It is alleged that the driver of the Land Cruiser tried to overtake a haulage truck and encroached onto the lane of the on-coming military vehicle.

The injured were taken to Parirenyatwa Hhospital with three of them in a critical condition.

In his condolence messages to the bereaved families, Lieutenant General Sibanda said the army is deeply saddened by the untimely death of its members.

He also wished those in hospital a speedy recovery.
