Two Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) officers have appeared in court for allegedly stealing scrap metal from the ZNA Mutare School of Logistics premises.

The pair; Farai Chada  (30) and Antony Mashaira (43) appeared before Mutare magistrate, Purity Gumbo facing theft charges.

The state’s case is that on the 23rd of June this year, Chada and Mashaira connived to steal four truck rims from the ZNA Mutare School of Logistics premises before selling them to a scrap metal dealer in Sakubva.

It is alleged that the transaction was booked in a register by the dealer and Mashaira was mentioned as the seller.

A stock-take was carried out at the ZNA School of Logistics and it was discovered that four truck rims were missing.

Chada and Mashaira were arrested after a report was made to the police.

They were granted $200 bail each and are expected back in court on Thursday for trial.
