ghty nine Zimbabwe National Army (ZNA) students received certificates today after successfully completing the General Squad Drill and Small Arms Course at 1 2 Infantry Battalion with the national army committing itself to consolidate its status as a professional and formidable force.

The students who were drawn from all formations and units in the ZNA participated in the 14 week-long General Squad Drill and Small Arms Course which was meant to equip them with the requisite skills and knowledge in all aspects of squad drilling and deployment of small arms.

Guest of honour during the graduation ceremony, Deputy Commander 1 Infantry Brigade Colonel Cornwell Jiyane said the national army will continue to invest in human resource development and professionalism in line with the overall goal of ensuring the army remains a prestigious and formidable force.

“It should be borne in mind that professionalism and dedication to duty are attributed to constant training in the Zimbabwe National Army. To you now the grandaunts as from today you are now well equipped as General Squad Drill and Small Arms Course qualifies you to attend small arms instructors’ courses,” he said.

The guest of honour who highlighted the ZNA’s commitment to promoting gender equality urged the graduands to maintain discipline throughout their military career and to seize every opportunity that comes along the way to attend other developmental programmes.

The ceremony also saw the handing over of certificates to the participants and the best students got special recognition and awards for their exceptional performance.

The event was graced by government officials, captains of industry and traditional leaders.
