The arrangement, which is expected to enhance the operations of small scale miners across the country, will see the Chinese mining equipment manufacturer supplying mining equipment such as drilling machines, compressors as well as crushers at affordable rates to members of the federation.

Zimbabwe Miners Federation President, Mr Trynos Nkomo confirmed that after the deal some equipment has already been sourced from the company.

“220 compressors have so far been sourced and ready for disbursement to members of the association including women and youth in mining,” he said.

Members of the association, who are mainly small scale miners, have been facing challenges in procuring vital machinery for their operations and the arrangement is likely to boost their activities.

The mining industry which last year was the major contributor to the fiscus is expected to grow by 60% this year as well as play a significant role in the attainment of the projected economic growth rate of between 10 to 12%.
