diamonds scam.jpgFive Zimbabwe Mining Development Company ZMDC bosses who are facing criminal abuse of office and fraud were back at the Harare Magistrate’s Court for indictment.

However, the five – Dominic Mubaiwa, Ashton Ndlovu, John Tichaona Honde, Mark Tsomondo and Gloria Mawarire – escaped indictment as the State postponed the matter to next Monday.

The State, represented by the Director of Public Prosecution, Ms Loice Ziyambi, told the court that the State is yet to photocopy some of the exhibit papers which need to be attached to the indictment papers.

It is the State’s case that the five misrepresented to the Government that Core Mining and Mineral Resource Company, represented by Lovemore Kurotwi, had the capacity to have a joint venture with the ZMDC to mine diamonds in Chiadzwa.

The State alleges that the misrepresentation caused a prejudice of US$10 million to the Government.
