high court building.jpgThe trial of 4 Zimbabwe Mining Development Company bosses who are facing charges of abuse of office and fraud has been set for February 7 at the High Court in Harare.

In a dramatic change of events, the state has withdrawn charges against one of the accused persons, Ashton Ndlovu, whom they have made one of their state witnesses.

The remaining 4 – Dominic Mubaiwa, Gloria Mawarire, John Tichaona Honde and Mark Tsomondo – escaped from being put in custody following their indictment.

The state uplifted their previous bail and reporting conditions.

The accused were on $2 000 bail.

Meanwhile, police have served Lovemore Kurotwi with summons to appear in court on Thursday for indictment.

It is the state case that the ZMDC bosses misrepresented to the government that a core mining company represented by Lovemore Kurotwi had the capacity to enter into a joint venture with the ZMDC to mine diamonds in Chiadzwa.

Their misrepresentation prejudiced the government of US$10 million and nothing was recovered.
