The Zimbabwe Mining Development Corporation (ZMDC) has signed an agreement with Australian firm, Kelltech Limited for the setting up of a US$300 million platinum beneficiation plant.
The Minister of Mines and Mining Development Cde Walter Chidhakwa said the joint venture company to run the beneficiation plant will be owned 49 percent by Kelltech Limited, 21 percent by a local partner and 30 percent by ZMDC.
Kelltech process director Mr Keith Liddell said they are pleased to provide beneficiation solution for platinum group of metals.
He said the plant will be constructed over a period of 24 months funded to the tune of US$300 million.
ZMDC board chairman Mr David Murangari said the new technology that the firm will bring should be expanded to other metals.
When fully operational the plant will be processing 300 000 tonnes of concentrate annually.
