Preparations for the 60th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) are gaining momentum and organisers say 90.03 percent of the available exhibition space has already been taken up.
The annual event, which is organised by the ZITF Company, will take place at the Zimbabwe International Exhibition Centre in Bulawayo this month from the 23rd to the 27th under the theme, “Propagating Industrial Growth Through Trade and Investment”.
In a statement, Minister of Industry and Commerce Honourable Nqobizitha Mangaliso Ndlovu said he is upbeat with the progress of the preparations and the response of the international exhibitors.
“To date 47.724 square meters of exhibition space has been taken up by a total of 435 exhibitors. These statistics compare favourably to the booking situation at the same time last year (45.632 square meters taken by exhibitors). Of these, 12 percent are first time exhibitors displaying a wide range of products and services including printing and packaging, tourism and education services,” he said.
Honourable Ndlovu said the theme aligns itself to the national agenda of pursuing industrialisation as the building block of sustainable base for import substitution and value added export led economic growth.
“By linking business with potential investors and financiers, ZITF 2019 will provide a platform to explore and cement synergies that promote trade and investment in industrial development,” he said.
ZITF is a platform for the government to engage the international community as it seeks to strengthen relations which is pivotal to achieving the desired economic growth.
