The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) is moving to align its tax laws to bring efficiency in the administration of revenue of the country as this week they embarked on an advanced course on tax treaties with regional and international nations.

Speaking on the sidelines of the workshop, the ZIMRA Commissioner General Ms Faith Mazani said the most important operational objective of bilateral tax treaties is the elimination of double taxation that has adverse effects of discouraging trade and investment that put an extra cost on business.

She also reiterated that the seminar will provide participants with common understanding of the basic issues of international taxation as contained in existing international model conventions.

ZIMRA is looking at ensuring that different economic measures are chosen to support economic development through mobilisation of revenue, promotion of trade and investment in an efficient manner.
