The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) this Thursday met with players in the telecommunications industry to discuss ways of improving tax compliance within the sector.

This comes as ZIMRA is shifting from its traditional hard line stance with respect to enforcing tax compliance to a more inclusive approach of engagement and cooperative compliance in line with practices around the globe.

Despite meeting its target, ZIMRA realised that the country still suffers from low tax compliance levels that is detrimental to the vision of being a middle income economy by 2030 as envisioned by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

According to ZIMRA Commissioner General, Ms Faith Mazani said their new approach has proved to be effective and efficient, adding that outreaches to key stakeholders can help build a national vision premised on high levels of tax compliance.

The ZIMRA Commissioner General said they have given their exercise a theme: ‘My Taxes, My Duties – Building my Zimbabwe,’ as the revenue collection agent seeks to build and strengthen its relationship with every stakeholder.
