The Zimbabwe Parks and Wildlife Management Authority (Zimparks) is targeting to improve its financial performance with the introduction of new innovative packages in Victoria Falls that will see among other things the extension of the rainforest’s viewing hours to 22:00 hrs every day.
International and domestic tourists visiting Victoria Falls will now have the pleasure of viewing the legendary and majestic Victoria Falls up until 10.pm as part of the innovative tourism packages announced by Zimparks.
The state-owned-enterprise is eying maximising the shareholder value and generating more revenue through a number of new tourism packages which include bush dinners, overnight camping, night game viewing and setting up of a beauty spar.
Zimparks Public Relations Manager, Mr Tinashe Farawo said the new packages are meant to boost revenue and ensure that tourists have diverse product choices.
“The new exciting tourism packages are meant to ensure that tourists can spend more time in Victoria Falls. In the process, we seek to maximise the shareholder value and generate more revenue through the introduction exciting new packages,” he said.
According to the entity, efforts are being made to reduce the prices of the tourism products for domestic tourists in line with the government’s goal of promoting domestic tourism. Meanwhile, the entity says safety measures have been put in place for night campaigning, night game drives and night viewing of the waterfall.
Tourists have since applauded the parastatal for the innovative packages with some expressing mixed reactions to the extension of the viewing hours of the waterfall.
The move by the parastatal which has a huge asset base across the country comes at a time the government has prioritised the restructuring of the state-owned-enterprises to ensure that they contribute more to the economy.
