gonye 54.jpgZimbabweans have been urged to support the Early Warning System designed to prevent the occurrence of political violence and its escalation in future elections to be held in the country.

In an interview on the sidelines of the launch of an Early Warning System for the gathering and analysis of information useful in preventing political violence, the Executive Chairman of the Centre for Peace Initiatives in Africa(CPIA), Dr. Leonard Kapungu said all Zimbabweans should support the system.

“We want this system to be supported by Zimbabweans if we are to achieve peace,” said Dr. Kapungu.

CPIA’s Head of Public Relations Mrs .Rena Chitombo urged the media fraternity to play an active role in enabling the system to succeed.

The formation of an Early Warning System was mooted at a CPIA Conference which was held in February this year in Nyanga with the aim of stemming political violence in the country.
