vp mujuru joice.jpgVice President, Joice Mujuru has called on Zimbabweans to rise above party politics and concentrate on projects that will develop and uplift the livelihoods of the people.

Cde Mujuru was speaking during a visit to Africa Centre for holistic management, outside the Victoria Falls, where she toured Dibhan’ombe Ranch in which projects meant to prevent desertification are being carried out.

She called on traditional leaders to protect such developmental projects and ensure that they are not politicised so that future generations can benefit from them.

In his presentation on holistic management, the founder of the centre, Mr Allan Savoury, said contrary to the belief that livestock numbers lead to overgrazing and desertification, research shows that abundance of livestock helps in retention of underground water, growth of vegetation and reduces soil erosion.

The programme which has been adopted in other countries including Botswana, Tanzania and South Africa, is aimed at restoring land, natural water sources and reversing desertification.
