The call was made by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cde Simbarashe Mumbengegwi while addressing at the official opening of the 15th Session of Zimbabwe-Zambia Joint Commission which started on the 8th and ends tomorrow in Lusaka, Zambia. 


Cde Mumbengegwi said the history of the liberation struggle in the region cannot be complete without mentioning the heroic sacrifices of the Zambian people. 


The Foreign Affairs Minister thanked the government of Zambia for assisting Zimbabwe during the difficult period and said Zimbabwe is now on the path to recovery and the macro-economic environment has been stabilized.


He urged the Trade and Customs Committee as well as the various technical committees in the agriculture sector to maintain close liaison to ensure that any issues of concern to either side is resolved amicably in a timely manner.


Cde Mumbengegwi also urged tourism sectors of the two countries to work together in marketing Victoria Falls which is on the boarder of the two countries.


In relation to agriculture, the Foreign Minister said the sector remains important for the economies of the two countries and through cooperation in research, technical and extension services hunger will be eliminated.

Cde. Mumbengegwi said the two countries should take advantage of the north-south corridor project to improve road and rail networks that benefit not only the two countries but all the other countries that use the corridor.
