The Zimbabwe Wrestling Federation is bracing for the 2019 African games where the country is expected to send a 14-member delegation to Morocco.

This comes as wrestling continues to register growth on the African continent.

With months remaining for the African games to begin, Zimbabwean wrestlers have already begun preparations and the Zimbabwe Wrestlers Federation President, Tapiwa Masinire is bullish that local wrestlers will produce top performances in Morocco.

“Our team has begun preparations for the African games. They are currently training at our traditional home which is Zororo in Highfields. Fighters are showing great enthusiasm and with fighters getting an opportunity of qualifying for the Olympics, the African games will be crucial for us as a country,” he said.

3 female wrestlers, 5 freestyle wrestlers, 4 grecko roman wrestlers and 2 officials are expected to travel to North Africa where Zimbabwe will be hoping to have some wrestlers qualifying for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games.
