Zimbabwe’s wheelchair basketball teams have missed out on the 2018 World Cup set for Germany.

The ladies team scooped bronze after finishing third at the World Cup qualifiers held in South Africa from the 16th to the 26th.

A turn of events from the organisers saw Africa being given one slot for the men and female teams.

Algeria will represent men, while Morocco will carry the African flag in the ladies category.

Zimbabwe Wheelchair Basketball Spokesperson, Nyasha Nhau said the team posted a brilliant show but was disappointed to miss out on the World Cup.

The Zimbabwe men’s team came 6th and Nhau attributed their disappointing show to financial challenges which resulted in the team failing to have foreign based players in camp on time.
