warriors2.jpgThe Zimbabwe Warriors have qualified for the CECAFA senior challenge quarterfinals after beating Tanzania 2-1this afternoon to set up a date with Uganda’s Cranes.
Hosts and defending champions Kilimanjaro Stars got a rude awakening when hopes of their continued dance in the CECAFA TUSKER senior men challenge were almost came to an end after being handed a 2-1 defeat by Zimbabwe Warriors in the final Group A match.

Zimbabwe got their goals through Donald Ngoma and an own goal by a Tanzanian defender.

The Kilimanjaro stars reduced the arrears towards the end of the match through a penalty after Eric Mudzingwa was harshly adjudged to have committed a foul.

Despite the defeat Tanzania qualified as the best third placed team where they were joined by Zanzibar who finished third in group B behind Burundi and Uganda.

A solitary goal by Sudan assured them a place in the last eight to pip Kenya’s Harambe Stars in the final match of group C.

The quarterfinal matches will now feature Rwanda playing Tanzania while Burundi faces Sudan on the 5th of December.

Malawi will play Zanzibar on the sixth of  December with Zimbabwe taking on Uganda the same day.
