An initiative to facilitate increased women participation in key economic sectors has been unveiled in line with global gender based policies.
The policy seeks to ensure that women in Zimbabwe participate in economic projects including business ownership, financial inclusion, share ownership, investments, and decision making, said Elevate International president Ms Solange Tuyishime.
“There are many opportunities that we are likely to review benefits and we hope through this economy we can go a further step,” she said.
Elevate Women in Zimbabwe founder Ms Taririo Mnangagwa said the organisation is committed to ensuring that women play a critical role in the economic recovery.
“We shall do our best to focus on the rebound of this economy and facilitate sustainable development in the future,” she said.
Providing opportunities for leadership growth of women is also important.
“There is nothing that can make this economy tick until or else we focus on key developmental aspects for economic growth,” said Elevate Women Zimbabwe programme director Ms Marlene Mhangami.
The government recently launched a Women’s Microfinance Bank, to ensure women have access to financial resources at affordable rates.
