Minister of State for Government Scholarships in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr Christopher Mushohwe

Britain has expressed its interest to helping Zimbabwe in skills development through exchange programmes and scholarships.

British ambassador to Zimbabwe Catriona Liang and the British Council of Zimbabwe Director Mr Sam Harvey paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Government Scholarships in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr Christopher Mushohwe where they articulated interest in cooperating with government in skills development.

Addressing the media after the courtesy call, Minister Mushohwe and Ms Laing said they are looking forward to working together to help develop skills necessary for the country’s growth.

The national skills audit revealed that the engineering and technology sector has a skills deficit of 94 percent, while natural and applied sciences has a deficit of 96 percent among other areas of specialisation.
