The African Chess Confederation (ACC) president Lewis Ncube has endorsed Zimbabwe to host the African individuals chess championships slated for August this year in the capital.
The championships will be held at Rainbow Towers from August 19 to 28.
Six age groups from Under 7 to Under 17 will battle it out for honours at the continental event.
Ncube said he is satisfied with the state of Zimbabwe’s preparedness to host the tournament.
The ACC president visited Zimbabwe on the 5th of this month to assess the progress made so far in preparation for the hosting of the continental championships.
Zimbabwe were given the rights to host the tournament for the first time in the history of chess.
