Zimbabwe will be part of SADC countries attending the regional disaster preparedness and response meeting to be held in South Africa tomorrow.

The regional meeting comes at a time when Zimbabwe and other SADC countries have been affected by floods which have destroyed bridges, homes, schools and other infrastructure.

Department of Civil Protection Acting Director, Mrs Sibusisiwe Ndhlovu said the region will share some of the best practices in disaster management and how members of the regional block can help each other in times of disaster.

Last year, the University of Zimbabwe in conjunction with the Meteorological Service Department hosted a regional workshop on the 2016/2017 weather forecast, which predicted normal to above normal rainfall.

The meeting was aimed at accessing the preparedness of countries ahead of the anticipated floods due to the above normal rainfall.
