The visiting English side, West Brom’s under 15 coach, Ahmed Ali says a broad participation of budding footballers in the lower age groups is critical in enhancing the quality of players at senior level.

Ali and Trevor Mazhande, a Zimbabwean coach based in the United Kingdom, have spared their time to work with budding footballers at a week-long clinic in Harare.

Ali is impressed by the technical ability of Zimbabwe’s junior players but feels for the country to be successful, participation needs to be encouraged at the lower age groups particularly the under 6 and under 8 age groups.

Mazhande, who is an under 12 coach at the West Brom Academy, was pleased to be back home where he outlined the potential of young local talent if fully nurtured.

BN Academy are the hosts of the 5-day coaching clinic which seeks to give young footballers an opportunity to express themselves on the football field under the supervision of qualified development coaches.
