The Zimbabwe men and women’s table tennis teams are gearing up for the Chinese Ambassador’s Cup next week.

 There are Intense preparations ahead of the 2019 Chinese ambassadors cup says Nelson Madzokere who is the Zimbabwe Table Tennis Union (ZTTU) national technical director.

Nine (9) men and Seven (7) women are gearing up for the annual competition which will be held at the Harare International School on the 21st and 22nd of this month.

It is less than a week before the staging of the table tennis extravaganza and Zimbabwe table tennis union technical director, Nelson Madzokere is satisfied with how team Zimbabwe has gone about preparing for the upcoming tournament.

“We have prepared well for this event and I am satisfied with the level of optimism within the squad. We have an exciting crop of young players that are coming up and hopefully, we will be able to hold our own. It will be a tough competition but I am positive that with the preparations that we have put in we will prevail” said Nelson Madzokere.

The Ambassador’s Cup is a contest pitting Zimbabwe and China.

The two-day event will be ideal preparation for Zimbabwe ahead of the 2019 region 5 games which will be held in Lesotho this December.

Brian Chamboko will be Zimbabwe’s top seed in the men’s category with Ashley Dhlamini leading the ladies squad.
