The Zimbabwe Sevens Rugby team, the Cheetahs, went into camp yesterday morning, ready to clinch a fourth consecutive title at the Castle Sevens Rugby Tournament scheduled for Zambia this weekend.
The Zimbabwe Sevens rugby team comprises some established players such as Tangai Nemadire, Jacque Laeto, and Daniel Hondo among others, and was in buoyant mood when they assembled for camp before going on an intense workout at a local gym.
Cheetahs captain, Jacques Laeto who was part of the side that won the last edition of the regional tournament, is optimistic the team will claim a fourth consecutive title.
“With some youngsters being injected into the side, we are optimistic that we will be able to win again in Zambia at a tournament where we can see where we stand going into a number of tournaments lined up later this year,†said Laeto.
The Cheetahs are in Group B together with Mpumulanga of South Africa, Botswana and Namibia, at a tournament which will see Zimbabwe also sending the Goshawks, a development side that was drawn in Group C together with Zambia, Gaborone select and Soweto select from South Africa.
