Zimbabwe emerged the biggest winner at the Pacific Travel Writers Association Awards after scooping gongs in three categories.

Zimbabwe was voted Destination of the Year, with the Minister of Environment, Tourism and Hospitality Cde Prisca Mupfumira voted as Tourism Minister of the Year and ISAW International Woman Achiever of the Year during the 2019 edition of the Pacific Travel Writers Association Awards in Berlin, Germany.

The awards, given in recognition of organisations, nations, corporates and individuals who have excelled in transforming the performance of their industries, are a huge endorsement of destination Zimbabwe

They come as a huge boost to the current marketing efforts by tourism industry officials to lure international travellers from key markets such as the United Kingdom, Germany and the United States.

These accolades add to the positive traction that Zimbabwe has made in cementing its position on the international market after being voted among the top 3 must visit destinations this year.

Former United Nations Secretary General, Dr Taleb Rifai described the awards as an important milestone that will be pivotal in promoting Zimbabwe on the global map and improve destination perceptions.
