Zimbabwe has once again been appointed into the International Labour Organisation (ILO) International Training Centre’s Board as well as the Finance and Administrative Board at the just ended ILO Governing Board convention held in Switzerland.
In a telephone interview with ZBC News, Director of International Affairs in the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare, Mr Poen Mudyawabikwa said the country is recording notable success as a governing board member.
He said this show of confidence in Zimbabwe comes at a time other sectors of the media had been speculating that the country could be put on the ILO agenda.
Other issues that were discussed include the ILO budget, international labour standards, food security and workers rights issues.
Zimbabwe was elected into the ILO governing board this year and the reappointment at the recent convention is a testimony that the country has made great progress in adhering to the ILO recommendations.
