-Zimbabwe will be stepping up its preparations for the Adina Polocrosse World Cup set for Warwick, Australia from the 22nd to the 28th of April when they take on fellow World Cup-bound Ireland at Bulawayo Country Club from Friday till Sunday.
Eight countries will be battling it out at the 80th edition of the Polocrosse World Cup with defending champions South Africa, last edition’s runner up Zambia, hosts Australia, UK, USA, Ireland, New Zealand and Zimbabwe set to take part.
With the 2011 edition’s 2nd position being the best ever achievement at the competition, Zimbabwe will be banking on the likes of Danie Swan, Sophie and Suzanne Sargent as well as Vice-Captain Paula Sparrow to do better.
As part of their preparations, Zimbabwe will lock horns with Ireland from this Friday till Sunday with another test match lined up for 8 – 10 March 2019 against South Africa.
Team manager, Lee Ann Mcbean, believes with such preparations, team Zimbabwe will be ready for the impending World Cup challenge.
The side that is coached by Gavin Cocker who is originally from Zimbabwe and has been part of two World Cup winning teams from South Africa will take on the hosts Australia in what will be the World Cup opener.
