Ambassador Mubi said this is a celebration of artists and their experience. she said for Zimbabwe to be part of this showing of human creativity, the country stands tall and bold in this world event where the artists work are telling the true stories about Zimbabwe.


Four Zimbabwean visual artists are representing the country at the first-ever national pavilion of Zimbabwe at the Venice Biennale 54th international exhibition in Italy.


The biennale kicked off yesterday and runs until the end of November. The 4 artists are Calivin Dondo, Tapfuma Gutsa, Berry Bickle and Misheck Masamvu and are presenting their works in painting, photograpgy, video and sculpture.


Speaking to ZBC News, the curator of the Zimbabwe Pavilion, Raphael Chikukwa said Zimbabwe Pavilion at the Venice Beinnale is pivotal in establishing a platform for localartists as it will provide an opportunity to spark discussions on the role of artists in a society.

The Venice biennale is the world’s most prestigious forum for contemporary art.its held every 2 years in the city of Venice and it draws a large international audience.
