The Zimbabwe Open could soon be back on the tennis calendar after the Tennis Zimbabwe executive committee yesterday met and recommended that the prestigious tourney makes a return.

Following a lengthy absence from the tennis calendar the Zimbabwe Open is poised for a return.

The Zimbabwe Open boasts of a rich history with players such as the Black brothers having at one point taken part in the tourney.

Genius Chidzikwe, Martin Dzuwa and Gwinyai Tongoona are other top players that took part in the Zimbabwe Open at their prime.

Also on the agenda was the need to ensure female players are given an opportunity to compete in high-level tournaments.

Finding partners to fund junior players that travel abroad was also on the agenda given concern raised by parents that often have to cater for their children’s expenses when representing the country.
