Years after recording his first song at the age of 9, Darlington Chikwewo who is popularly known as ‘Young DLC’ in the music circles continues to make inroads in what is proving to be an intriguing musical journey.
22 year old rising Zimbabwean music producer Young DLC continues to make inroads on a promising music career, with the music mastermind back home following a grueling 2018 which saw him teaming up with South Africa’s Neil Solomon in the recording of a 13 track album titled ‘Afro Bites’.
Just last month Young DLC was in Kenya and was part of the Coke Studio music production team, a project he has been part of since 2016.
Having had the privilege of working with top artists such as Mr Easy, Jason Darulo, Jah Prayzah and Olamide just to name a few, Young DLC believes creating a unique Zimbabwean sound remains critical in the country’s quest to have local artists gain a global appeal.
The rising Zimbabwean music producer hails from a family of music with his father Lazarus Chikwewo a gospel artist having had a major influence in a journey which began with a song recorded at the age of 9.
Young DLC’s father owned a recording studio known as Voice of Jordan, but after being briefly abandoned, Darlington’s love for music has sparked the revival of the studio.
