African countries have been urged to borrow a leaf from Zimbabwe’s policy on African migrants to accelerate regional integration and achieve sustainable socio-economic development.
The Inter-Governmental Committee of Southern Africa panel says Zimbabwe has a commendable policy on migrants which should be emulated to improve free trade in the southern block.
Addressing delegates in Bulawayo, the Director of Human Science Research Council of Pretoria, Dr Emmanuel Sekyere applauded the Zimbabwean government on its friendly migration policy that allows free movement of people.
The panelists also counselled SADC countries to protect migrants and superintend on their entrepreneurs who exploit vulnerable migrants.
The economic experts underlined that African countries need each other in business and should facilitate free movement of people to improve socio-economic development of the region as a whole.
