Zimbabwe joins the rest of the world in commemorating Breast Feeding Week which starts today.
The week will be launched tomorrow at Zimbabwe Grounds, in Highfield, Harare.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care will be joined by its development partners who include the World Food Programme among others, at the launch.
Speaking to ZBC News, a nutritionist in the ministry Mr Dexter Chagwena said in light of the commemorations, they are holding road shows to remind people of the importance of breast feeding.
Mr Chagwena said some road shows will be held today at Hopley, Glen Norah and Machipisa, in Harare.
He also urged people to support breast feeding to promote babies’ health.
The Ministry of Health and Child Care encourages exclusive breastfeeding for six months for proper nutrition.
This year’s commemorations will run under the theme: ‘Sustaining Breast Feeding Together’.
