The Minister of Sport and Recreation, Makhosini Hlongwane has officially launched the 2017 UNESCO Fund for the Elimination of Doping in Sport
The launch also saw Zimbabwe long distance runner, Cuthbert Nyasango and former Sevens rugby national team player, Precious Pazani being named clean sport ambassadors.
The two, who could hardly hide their joy, said their role is to encourage athletes to take responsibility for the promotion of clean sport and protection of other clean athletes.
Minister Hlongwane said the fund’s salutary impact will be measured by its ability to reach out to the country’s 10 provinces on anti doping education.
The 2nd World Conference on Doping in Sport held in Copenhagen, Denmark in 2003 saw the creation of the World Anti-Doping Code, which was formally accepted by the Zimbabwe Olympic Committee (ZOC) on the 26th of February 2004.
