As the preparations of the Zimbabwe Film Festival are underway, film makers celebrate the growth of the film industry that was necessitated by technology and the digitalisation.

Last year, more than 100 people submitted their short films for the 18th edition of the Zimbabwe International Film Festival that was held in the capital.

This year the festival scheduled for the 26th of August makes its annual return to the country’s cultural activity with its 19th edition calling for submissions now.

Speaking to the ZBC News today, Zimbabwe International Film Festival consultant, Nakai Matema said the festival will enhance participation of film makers in growth of the industry.

Meanwhile, film makers and producers in Zimbabwe celebrate the growth of the film industry saying the digitalisation programme will see more films being produced and thus the growth of the industry.

The festival will run from the 26th of August to the 2nd of September running under the theme, ‘The Business of the Film’, and will be hosted as a joint festival with the International Images Film Festival for Women.
