Outgoing Italian ambassador to Zimbabwe Enrico Agostini says the future of Zimbabwe is bright and Italy is prepared to further its partnership with the new political dispensation to further development in the country.
Mr Agostini made these remarks when he met President-elect Emmerson Mnangagwa at State House in Harare today.
The Italian government and Zimbabwe share friendly bilateral relations that have seen Italian corporates working in the area of infrastructure provision with the latest project being the Tokwe Mukosi dam in the lowveld that has given hope for a better life for people of Masvingo province through command fisheries and irrigation development.
A Zimbabwean business delegation recently visited Italy at the invitation of the European country to invite investment into Zimbabwe to grow the economy and modernise.
Italy has cutting edge technology in agriculture infrastructure development, agro-processing and energy, among others.
Mr Agostini said Zimbabwe is a hospitable county and that he may one day want to retire in the country.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Sibusiso Moyo also attended the meeting which saw the ambassador eloquently conversing in Shona language.
