Zimbabwe who are currently ranked 10th on the reliance ODI standings, will be eyeing a performance which could see them leapfrog past Bangladesh who currently occupy 9th position.

On the T-20 arena, Zimbabwe also occupies 10th position where they are one place behind Afghanistan.

With the Zimbabwe cricket team currently embarking on one-off test encounters as part of managing their return to tests, Zimbabwe is currently not ranked having played insufficient matches.

Zimbabwe last year returned to test cricket on a high by beating Bangladesh.

Back to back defeats to Pakistan and New Zealand however followed.

Despite the losses, Allan Butcher will however take heart from encouraging displays which include embarking on their highest ever successful run chase against New Zealand.

With Butcher boasting of a strong 16-man squad, the cricket fraternity will be hoping Stuart Matsikenyeri transforms his domestic form to the international arena, while Zimbabwe Cricketer of the Year, Brendan Taylor, is expected to continue being a source of inspiration.

Zimbabwe begin their New Zealand tour with a warm up encounter with New Zealand XI slated for this weekend before clashing with the Black Caps in a one-off test, 3 ODIs and two T-20 encounters.
