yang jiechi 12-02-11.jpgThe visiting Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister, Mr. Yang Jiechi, says relations between the two nations are built on a rock solid foundation that has stood the test of time.

He was speaking at a dinner hosted for him by Foreign Affairs Minister, Cde Simbarashe Mumbegegwi.

 

The Chinese Foreign Minister also urged both nations to continue building up and consolidating the relations which go as far back as the liberation struggle when the Asian nation gave moral and material support to the Zimbabwean liberation cause.

 

He also urged the two nations to continuously share and encourage cultural exchange programmes through cultural youth exchange programmes.

 

“Zimbabwe and China should continue supporting each other and maintain the strong relations which exist between the two countries,” said Mr.Yang Jiechi.

 

Paying tribute to the fact that his Chinese counterpart chose Zimbabwe as his first port of call on his six African nation tour, Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs Minister Cde Simbarashe Mbengegwi said the two nations share strong bilateral relation built on mutual trust and respect.

 

Cde Mbengwegwi also noted that the two foreign affairs ministers shared notes on the situations in Cote’d’voire, Sudan and North Africa of those countries who have the primary responsibility to deal with those situations.

 

The Asian nation is  ranking as the world’s second largest economy after the US with Zimbabwe being one of its trading partners especially ion the fields of  agriculture, manufacturing and  tourism.
