First it was Marshal Munetsi, then Teenage Hadebe now Marvellous Nakamba on the brink of a English Premier League switch and Zimbabweans are excited.

After all, there is every reason for local soccer lovers to celebrate as the current European transfer window is one of the most successful for Zimbabwean players.

Just before the AFCON tournament last month, Warriors midfilder, Munetsi secured a move to the French Ligue 1 outfit, Stade de Reims.

A steely performance at the AFCON then earned another Zimbabwean player a European topflight switch, with Hadebe securing a 3-year contract with Turkish outfit, Yeni Malatyaspor.

And now, Aston Villa yesterday agreed a £11m fee for Nakamba to switch from Club Brugge and the deal will be completed after a medical.

The much-awaited signing will take English Premier League returnee, Aston Villa’s spending to more than 100 million pounds.

Wesley, Tyron Mings, Trezeguet, Anwar El Ghazi, Bjorn Engels And Ezri Konsa are some of the players that have secured moves to Villa Park but it is the signing of Nakamba that has captured the attention of Zimbabweans the most, given it has been a fairly long time since the Warriors had a player plying their trade in the English premiership.
