Zimbabwean boxers put up a splendid show to dismiss their opponents during the Kalakoda Kwese Fight Night Tournament at the City Sports Centre in the capital yesterday.
As per their word, Zimbabwean boxers delivered a special night to boxing fanatics who thronged the City Sports Centre.
WBF Africa heavy weight champion Elvis ‘Bulawayo Bomber’ Moyo defeated Ukrainian opponent Maskim Pedjura.
Moyo said he had to summon all his experience to win the fight.
“The sport is now on a recovery path and it is our duty to motivate upcoming boxers by winning fights,” he said.
Sting Gonerenda outclassed DRC’s Djokito Sakuji in a non title fight while Mbare born and bred Tinashe ‘Chairman’ Madziwane defeated Ronald Tamani to land the vacant super bantam weight national title.
Madziwane who dedicated the fight to his brother, Fero who came all the way from the United Kingdom heaped praises on his supporters for rallying behind him at a time Tamani seemed to have an upper hand.
“I dedicate the fight to my brother and special thanks goes to my fans and coach,” he said.
After being defeated by Chiedza Nikita Homakoma in one of the national fights, Monalisa Sibanda accused her opponent of taking drugs.
“I pulled out for safety reasons. I know Chiedza and I could tell she was under the influence of drugs,” she said.
Monalisa was defeated in less than a minute.
