elias mudzuri.jpgZimbabwe and Botswana have concluded a  joint venture deal on  information technology a move  expected to improve business transactions and facilitate the  expansion of  information technology between the two Southern African states.


In terms of the arrangement, ZESA Holdings subsidiary, PowerTel Communications will be partnering the Botswana Telecommunications Corporation (BTC) through the setting up of an internet bandwith connection.

Botswana Telecommunications Corporation chairman Mr leonard Makwinja said the deal will improve information technology systems for the two countries.

Mr Makwinja said:  “This deal is crucial as it will in the long term benefit the two nations.”

The Minister of Energy and Power Development, Engineer Elias Mudzuri said the agreement with BTC is expected to positively impact on various sectors of the economy.

“This transaction is historic because it will boost the volume of business activities,” said Mudzuri.

Powertel and BTC have resolved to work together in line with the transaction which is expected to increase bilateral trade, investment and economic ties.
