Eight Zimbabwe basketball clubs are set to travel to Swaziland for a regional tournament pencilled for 23 to 25 June in Mbabane.
Harare Basketball Association league champions City of Harare Hornets will lead the pack of Zimbabwean teams that include JBC, Foxes and Mufakose Hustlaz men’s teams while Bulawayo Lakers, Lynx Queens formerly Hustlaz Queens, Vixens and Green Stars will represent in the women’s category.
Organiser Kuda Zvarewa confirmed the participation of Zimbabwean clubs and other top clubs from the region.
Among the countries that will be represented include hosts Swaziland, Botswana, Lesotho, Malawi, Zambia, Tanzania, Namibia, Mozambique and Zimbabwe.
Some 24 men’s teams and 17 women’s clubs will battle it out for honours in the 5th edition of Swaziland international tournament.
Teams have been pooled into groups of four teams each and the top two teams from each group will proceed to the quarter finals, then semi- final and finals.
Meanwhile, Basketball Union of Zimbabwe elections are now set for late this month, as nominations were extended to the 16th of June following poor responses from members in the initial closing date of May the 30th.
