Zimbabwe ‘A’ beat visiting Canada by two wickets with 11 balls remaining in the first of three 50-over matches this Tuesday at the Harare Sports Club.

The visitors won the toss and batted first, reaching 246 for 6 in their allotted 50 overs, while Zimbabwe chased and managed 249 for 8 in 48.1 overs to take a 1-nil lead.

Chamu Chibhabha 65, Peter. J Moor 45, Sean Williams 43, Tymcen Maruma and Nathan Waller both on 37 led Zimbabwe’s chase.

The second one-day match is on at Harare Sports Club on Thursday the 18th and the third and final match on Friday the 19th of May 2017.

The Canadians beat a high performance centre side in a warm-up game at Takashinga in the capital’s Highfield suburb on Sunday by 71 runs.

Canada last toured Zimbabwe in January 2015 for a 50-over series which Zimbabwe ‘A’ won 3-1.
