The 20th edition of the Zimbabwe International Film Festival (ZIFF) ended on a high note as the best film persona in the Zimbabwean film industry were honored.

Running under the theme: ‘Narratives from Africa,’ the film festival saw more than 49 Afrocentric films screened in Harare.

The festival marked a milestone in the history of African films as it was meant to encourage local film producers to tell the true African culture and heritage.

ZIFF Trust Director, Nakai Matema said this year’s edition took the center stage in promoting African culture and heritage, and a number of local and international films screened at the festival told African narratives.

Meanwhile, a Zimbabwean film; ‘Cook Off’ directed by Thomas Brickhill, emerged the best feature film at the festival.

In the Safirio Madzikatire Lifetime Achievement Award that goes to people who contributed in film and arts, Lazarus Bora aka Gringo, Freddy Manjalima aka Kapfupi, the late Cde Chinx Chingaira and Susan Chenjerai aka Mai Rwizi, were recognised for their work in the industry.
