referee 13.09.10.jpgThe Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has expressed its desire to groom new referees, who will execute their mandate with distinction.

This follows allegations of corrupt practices by some match officials who misuse their mandate by influencing the outcome of matches.

ZIFA Chief Executive Officer, Jonathan Mashingaidze says identifying a new breed of match officials is one of their principal objectives.

There has also raised concern over the non appointment of local referees for Confederation of African Football (CAF) and other continental competitions, and ZIFA believes that the setting up of a training programme will result in the grooming of new young match officials possessing the pedigree to officiate on the international stage.
