seed.jpgThe Zimbabwe Farmers Union (ZFU) in conjunction with the Public Service Association (PSA) and agriculture input manufacturing companies has established a farming inputs supply programme which is expected to benefit civil servants.
The inputs programme is aimed at improving the productivity of small scale farmers who face challenges every year in acquiring inputs as well as improving food security in the forthcoming summer cropping season.

ZFU Head of Commodities, Mr. Ellimon Maponde said civil servants who form a significant part of the union’s membership will be able to purchase inputs on credit which will have a repayment period of up to six months.

Government last week unveiled a US$45 million facility for the 2011-2012 agricultural season under the subsidised summer input scheme, of which communal famers are expected to get 50% of the inputs.
