May 1 every year has been set aside as the day when workers say out their concerns. This year, the Zimbabwe Federation of Trade Unions ZFTU says the interests of the workers in Zimbabwe especially in the constitution making process will be at the forefront.
Workers under the ZFTU in Harare will mark the May Day celebrations at Gwanzura Stadium while those in Bulawayo will gather at Lady Stanley Square. In Kwekwe, Rusike Primary School will be the venue with workers in Bindura converging at Chipadze Hall, while there will be other gatherings in Mutare, Hwange, Masvingo and others.

Though there have been reports indicating divisions in the ZFTU, the leadership which comprises Joseph Chinotimba, Jacob Gwavava and Alfred Makwarimba says they are working together and have prepared for the Workers Day celebrations in unity.
